Hi Melissa,
Wow! There are so many books of the Bible I would like to study...hmmm. I think I would like to study Isaiah or James.
Thanks for doing such an awesome job with Ruth.
In Christ,
Meredith
Okay, Melissa...I didn't read the rest of the question or else I'm just really tired from the day...Why do I want to study Isaiah? God tells us so much about Himself through Isaiah and Isaiah prophesies about the coming Savior.
Not fair, Meridith. I really was going to say that I'd like to study Isaiah next as well, but now I sound like a copy cat.
So, my answer is still Isaiah. God does some interesting things with the Israelites in that book that are so applicable to the modern believer. And because, like Meredith says, Isaiah prophesies about the coming Christ. heavy stuff...

Melissa, I would go along with Isaiah if that is what the majority want. However, I LOVE James and would love to study him and that book under your leadership. Isaiah because the prophecies of the Old Testament that are from this prophet are realized in the New Testament. But, James because James 1: 2 -12 was the promise of God that I held onto throughout my single days.
Forgot to leave my name along with "Anonymous" above. Sorry! I'm pretty computer illerterate! Karen Berger
Corinthians(is it considered as a book or just epistle?) ..it speaks in very practical terms to me.
James, definitely James. For me being an anxious person, any book that starts out with "Consider it pure joy when you encounter various trails, knowing that the testing of your faith produced endurance" is one I need to be knowledgable in.
I vote to study the book of James because James is a very practical book which would help me live out my faith.
Thanks for teaching the class, Melissa. I am learning a lot and enjoying it, too.

Not so much a particular book but the story/life of Abraham and the theme of faith.

This is an extremely tough question, they are all so good. But, I would have to say begin with 1 Peter and continue through 2nd. Knowing his background, I think it'd be encouraging to look how the Holy Spirit moved through him to write these books for us.

I'll go with the majority, whatever that ends up being! Any one would be great! Like the suggestions so far! Enjoy your class and material! Thanks!
What about the book of Mark -- there's always something fresh to learn about the parables or miracles of Jesus.

The book of James has my vote also. It is just so practical and the wisdom it provides is pricelsss. Who doesn't need to be reminded constantly about the power of the tongue and the damage it does (James 3:5). Yes, Jessica, I ditto you on the unwelcomed reality, yet needed reminder, that trials are put in our lives to increase our faith.

Melissa,
Thanks so much for leading us in the study of Ruth. Looks like James is very popular, and that would be great. My first thought was 1 and/or 2 Peter, very practical books also. Peter is one of my favorite characters. I heard someone say that he was always right there with Jesus. If Jesus suddenly stopped, Peter would have smacked right into him.

Melissa - I would love to study Isaiah, but it seems like an enormous undertaking and the study itself would last for months unless you found someway to consolidate it without slighting the study. I would love for you to continue the theme of God's redemptive love for us in the book of Hosea or Song of Solomon. Right now I'm all about the amazing concept of intimacy with the Divine. Does majority rule? I'm lovin' Ruth!
